A Portuguese view on NFL - week 1

Kick off weekend is underway, there are still two games left, but there's a lot say about what happened already. The opening game at Green Bay was pretty good. Well, at least in the offensive end. It was all about who could complete more passes rather than who's defense was better. Both defenses were, in my opinion, ineffective and with plenty of room for improvement. Brees and Rodgers  proved they can achieve greatness (once again), but to win a superbowl their defense needs to speed up.
On sunday the Steelers got wiped out at Baltimore. Flacco and the Ravens road killed the Steelers in every aspect of the game. Ray Lewis lead the strongest defense i saw in week 1. Ravens are already perfomimg at superbowl level. The Steelers... well the best i can say is that they have it all there, now they just have to make it work...
As for the Giants, this first game will be reviewed over and over in that locker room. The Redskins played well, but Manning and the Giants weren't at their best... To many fumbles, sacks and interception for one team in one match. Grossman showed he can run the Redskins offense and the rest of the offensive line proved they are tuned with their QB.
Week one presented the first session of the Philadelphia "Dream Team" Eagles. And it wasn't a dream... They won, it's true, but they have to improve a loooooot. Vick caught a break with the injuries of the RB and QB of the Rams, otherwise we would all be talking about the Dream Team's defeat at Saint Louis. The Rams can have a good regular season and I think they have what it takes to make it to the post-season, unless any injury will come their way. As for the Eagles... well they're just a team, not yet a dream one. In my opinion, they have it all, but they need to build a team. More like the Ravens...
On Sunday night the matchup between Jets and the Cowboys proved me to things: I still don't like both teams offense and I still don't like their defense... enough said? Romo, what happened on the fourth quarter man? You have to believe in yourself and your offense when under pressure... And Sanchez, you have a pretty good offense, you just need to be the driver, so drive!
Now I'm waiting for the Miami duel: can the Patriots keep their good pre-season momentum? Or will the Dolphins be a surprise? Can Chad Henne prove their where wrong when the Dolphins tried to cut him? Let's see... And let's see what week 2 brings us

PS - There is still a lot to talk about (Cam Newton's being the best rookie QB of the History of NFL, McNabb's Vikings...) but we will have time to talk about it.

Go out and enjoy my city - Rest. Paladar da Alma

Paladar da Alma is a vegetarian restaurant located in the heart of Oporto, right next to the Coliseu in Santo Ildefonso Street. It's a small but very charming place for a nice and quiet lunch (or dinner) in the middle of the city.
The menu only has 3 options, that are different every day, which makes it  easier for you to choose. I have to say the I've tried it and I've enjoyed it. The presentation is simple yet comfortable to the eye and the quality of the food is good. To drink you can choose from a variety of teas, wine, beer and, of course, water. As for the desert, well... I had an apple crumble and i must say it was the perfect end to a chillin' lunch in the city.

The music is good, the service efficient and the restaurant's decoration is very simple but quite pretty.

Due to its location, this is a good spot to lunch when you're spending a day in the city or if you work there.
